Part of Cub Scouts is being involved in your community and Pack 718 has a number of annual activities that we do to be more involved in our community, make scouts aware of local needs and help out charitable organizations. Below are the activities we have been involved in:

• Scouting for Food: Always the first Saturday in December. Each year the Scouts of Pack 718 visit houses in the Sunset Trail District to collect bags of canned food, cereal, pasta, peanut butter, juice and other nonperishable items to donate.  In December 2016, Pack 718 Scouts collected 1,370 pounds food.  In December 2017, Pack 718 collected 1,135 pounds food. all of it going to St. Juan Diego Parish Food Pantry.
• Salvation Army Bell Ringing: During December of each year we volunteer at a local store to ring the bell for The Salvation Army. The Dens cover a day by splitting shifts across Dens. All donations go directly to The Salvation Army.  Collection total for 2016 was $530, and for 2017 the collection total was $379.
• School Grounds Beautification: Each year the Pack provides hundreds of hours of volunteer service to Findley Elementary School by cleaning up the grounds and helping with landscaping needs.  We do two coordinated beautification events for the school, one in Autumn, another in Spring.
• Findley Elementary School PTO:  Each year the pack makes a generous monetary donation to the PTO, and also helps the PTO with activity coordination.  The PTO helps Findley school by sponsoring & funding educational & physical education activities, supplies, materials, events & equipment.
• Holiday wreath sales: This is our one and only fundraiser.  It’s fun, gets people into the holiday spirit, supports a local business, and beautifies neighborhood homes with fresh pine bough decorations.  A typical year generates ~ $20,000 in sales, of which ~ $8,000 goes to fund Pack 718 activities & operating expenses.
• Fundraising to support Scouting: Each year the Pack raises money for the Cascade Pacific Council “Friends of Scouting” campaign. These funds are used to support many outdoor camping programs, provide enrichment programs for at-risk youth, and provide service programs that in turn support the greater community.  As of May 6, the 2017 FOS campaign totals were $2075 of the $2700 goal set for the pack by the district.  25 of 44 families contributed.
• And lots of other causes too: The Pack often supports holiday toy drives, bake sales for local community centers, tree plantings, and other charitable activities.
